WELCOME
TO THE 74th ANNUAL MEETING OF
THE JAPANESE SOCIETY OF RADIOLOGICAL TECHNOLOGY (JSRT),

“Innovative sciences and humanism in Radiology”

Dear Colleagues,

It is my sincere pleasure to welcome you to the 74th scientific assembly and annual meeting of the Japanese Society of Radiological Technology (JSRT) at the Japan Radiology Congress (JRC) from April 12-15, 2018 at PACIFICO YOKOHAMA, in the vibrant international city of Yokohama, Japan. The meeting is one of the leading international events in the field of radiological technology. This meeting is where radiological technicians, researchers, and scientists present the latest information in medical imaging, multimodality imaging, image engineering, computer-aided detection/diagnosis, radiotherapy, radiation measurement, radiation protection, and informatics. The total number of presentations in the meeting is expected to exceed 500.

The theme of this year’s meeting is “Innovative sciences and humanism in Radiology”. The latest innovative developments such as artificial intelligence (AI) and automation technologies have supported us not only in our daily life but also in the medical field. As various innovations are introduced in our field, it is essential to think about whom this innovation is for and, obviously, the answer is the “patient”. Therefore, for patient-friendly radiological medicine, we need to reconsider before we apply those innovations.

Do you have a “dream” in your research? We always have a “dream” when we start a new research project, i.e., we believe that our research will improve diagnostic accuracy and/or reduce patient dose dramatically. I think it is this “dream” that is the source of our energy to perform research and encourages us to complete the research even if there are various difficulties. “Dream” is the keyword of this meeting.

We are confident that this annual meeting will provide many opportunities for building up a network of connections and exchanges of opinions in clinical and preclinical research. The joint committee of JRC and the scientific program committee of JSRT have assembled inspiring and exciting programs of novel developments and cutting-edge technologies in our field. Moreover, we will have a special symposium of “Preclinical research in radiology” that will provide you with the newest information on novel developments and ideas that will bring us dream-like innovation in the near future.

I also extend a very warm welcome and note of appreciation to our industry colleagues for their support. I encourage you to visit the International Technical Exhibition of Medical Image (ITEM in JRC2018) organized by over 150 companies to educate us about the newest developments.

I hope this annual meeting will provide you with new insights into and inspiration for your research. Enjoy the meeting as a festival of innovative ideas and enjoy all that JRC2018 has to offer! I look forward to seeing you in Yokohama.
